Meet the person behind Mother’s Companion
My name is Denise and I am the wife of my husband William,
the mother of our daughter L, as well as to our furbaby, Missy (our cat).
I grew up in Hamburg, Germany and moved to Whitehorse, Canada in 2010 after I graduated school. In Whitehorse I met my husband to which I am married to since 2015.
We moved to Leduc, Alberta shortly before our daughter was born and we were overwhelmed by the warm welcome we received from the community.
I never thought that I would have to become pregnant, go through labour and care for a baby in order for me to find what I am meant to do: Help other parents go thru exactly that.
… because let’s be honest, you may have everything perfectly planned out and be very well prepared but still labour and parenthood can throw your plans upside down.
I am very exciting to finally have found something I like to learn about and pursue, especially after everything else in my life (my family) fell into place.
I am a caring, kind and honest individual. I also am reliable, always approachable and grounded. I am a compassionate and empathetic human being, which i believe are important features to support families in such precious times.
As a Doula I can be your trusted companion that you can talk to without the fear of judgement and I will walk part of your path into parenthood by your side.
I like to focus on the positive even when things go sideways and people who got to know me have said that i have a bubbly personality!
I love to go on little adventures, travel , read and paint (even though lately I have been more focusing on my family life and certification as doula and childbirth educator).
And another little fun fact about me is that I love everything cute from babies to unicorns (unicorn obsession over here…) or you could say I am a “girly-girl” 😉
In March 2018 I started my training with Doula Canada and couldn’t be happier about it as it is a wonderful community in which we are helping one another. Everyone person I’ve met or come in contact with through DTC has been compassionate, warmhearted and supportive!
